Here's the thing that shapes everything at the Majestic: it runs on a state-of-the-art house PA with an in-house sound tech, and the venue asks DJs to leave their own speakers at home and patch into that system instead. Our DJ Julian did exactly that here, he brought only his turntables and laptop, was told not to bring speakers, and set up on the stage in about ten minutes because there was no PA to fly. His verdict on the house rig: one of the nicest he's played on, and the room sounded great through it with no acoustic issues to fight. So the plan here isn't to bring a wall of speakers, it's to coordinate the tie-in: who runs front-of-house, how the booth patches in, and monitors on stage. We nail that down before the date so there are no surprises.
The floor is tiered, not flat, and dancing usually happens on the main floor in front of the stage or right up on the stage itself, which is a genuinely great look. The historic plaster room is live, so we keep levels controlled and let the house rig's coverage carry the room. The Majestic handles both the ceremony and the reception, and the ceremony can happen on the stage, under the proscenium, which is a hard look to beat. Because it's a single theater space, the ceremony and reception share the room, so there's a changeover on the tiered floor and stage during cocktail hour. We coordinate the ceremony audio through the house system and plan the reset with the venue and your coordinator so the transition is smooth.
Insider info: load-in, power, parking
A few operational notes, most confirmed from Julian's night here. Because this is a working concert venue, you coordinate with house staff on sound and lighting: a house sound tech actually helped Julian run sound and get set, and there's an in-house lighting rig (uplighting, gobos, custom programming), so we align cues with their tech rather than bringing a competing rig. Load-in was no problem for Julian, and because there's no PA to haul, setup was quick, though the building is a tiered historic theater downtown on King Street, so we still scout the stage access ahead of time. The bar is in-house (two full bars, cashless), but catering is open and the venue is food-truck friendly, so you bring your caterer. One to note: the venue's site lists an insurance requirement for vendors, and while Julian found it loosely enforced on the day, we carry a certificate of insurance anyway so it's never an issue.
Parking is downtown: there's no venue lot, but the Wilson Street Garage sits directly behind the venue, and street parking is generally free after 6 p.m. We plan a quick King Street unload, then park in the garage.
Cocktail hour
The lobby and the opera boxes make natural mingling spots, and there are two bars (main floor and balcony) to spread the crowd. Since the whole event lives in one theater, cocktail hour typically flows through the lobby and floor while the room resets from ceremony to reception, and we keep music and announcements steady through the house system so guests never feel the seams.

The Majestic flows up to around 350 for a standing reception, with a realistic seated-dinner number closer to 180 to 200, plus tables can be added in the balcony for extra dinner seating. Because the room runs on the house rig, scaling up is more about layout, seating across the floor and balcony, than about adding speakers.
