Wedding DJs in Austin, Texas
Your Austin DJ came up through clubs, her own party series, and three years in the music industry before that. She mixes live, reads the room, and doesn't hog the mic. We're not parked behind a laptop running a playlist on shuffle.
Alternative Wedding DJs books nightclub-style wedding DJs in Austin and the Texas Hill Country. Every booking includes two full-range speakers, a subwoofer, wireless and corded microphones, and dancefloor lighting.
Below: who runs Austin for us, real pricing, the venues we cover, and answers to what Austin couples actually ask.
I'm Jackie, and I run Austin for Alternative Wedding DJs.
Music has been the thread running through pretty much every version of my life.
I moved to Los Angeles in 2011 thinking I was going to work in film. Turns out, I hated it. A temp job landed me at a music publishing company instead, where I eventually worked my way into A&R and spent my days around songwriters, producers and artists.
Seeing music created from the inside changed the way I thought about it. I didn't just love music. I loved what it could do: change the energy in a room, bring people together and take you right back to a moment you thought you'd forgotten.
I'd been playing around with DJing since college, but years later I decided to really invest in the craft. Elliott, who now leads the Wisconsin market for Alternative Wedding DJs, helped me hone my skills, finesse the technical side and put all the pieces together.
By 2023, DJing had grown into a real part of my professional life. Since then, I've played clubs and lounges, festivals and cultural events, weddings, corporate events and brand experiences. I've also created events of my own, giving me space to experiment with music, build experiences around it and connect with all kinds of crowds.
That's what I love about DJing: no two rooms speak the same language.
I'm open format because I genuinely love a ridiculous amount of music. Reggaeton will always have my heart, but my sets can move through R&B, hip-hop, cumbia, disco, pop, throwbacks and whatever else makes sense for the people in front of me. I love finding the thread between songs that shouldn't necessarily belong together and somehow making them work.
Weddings bring all of that together. Give me the songs you can't imagine your night without, the ones you absolutely never want to hear and a sense of who your people are. I'll build from there and read the room with you.
I also come to weddings as a professional event planner, so I understand everything happening beyond the DJ booth: timelines, vendors, transitions, last-minute changes and all the little details your guests will hopefully never know happened.
And I continue sharpening my craft here in Austin through one-on-one sessions at Dub Academy, because I never want to stop getting better behind the decks.
For me, DJing is about connection: finding the right song at the right moment and watching a room come alive.
Your wedding doesn't need to sound like anyone else's. It should sound like you.

A&R BACKGROUND
New to Austin.
Not new to weddings.
Jackie played weddings on our Nebraska roster before she moved. Here's how she sounds, how she sets up, and what those couples said.
HER SET UP
What couples say
"She handled our outdoor ceremony seamlessly and absolutely nailed the dinner reception vibe, perfectly capturing the upbeat yet chill vibes we were hoping for. She was very responsive, thoughtful, and a pleasure to work with." — Michelle, Omaha · Google
"She arrived early and was set up in time, relieving any stress related to music for our event. She did a great job reading the room and adjusting as necessary. I had several people comment about how much they liked the music and the vibe she created." — Laurie, Omaha · Zola
"Very professional, they had a lot of options for services, and the DJ we chose, DJ Jackie, was beyond the expectations." — Karine, Omaha · Google
Jackie isn't working alone out here. Alternative Wedding DJs has been booking weddings since 2016 across Nebraska and Wisconsin, with 130+ five-star reviews across The Knot, WeddingWire, Zola and Google.
What she plays
Jackie doesn't work from a standard wedding playlist. Your music starts with your taste, your guests and the kind of night you want.
Her range goes from reggaeton, cumbia, bachata and merengue to R&B, hip-hop, disco, pop, rock, 80s, 90s and 2000s.
Want to stay in one lane? She can. Want to move around? Even better.
Bilingual
English, Spanish or a mix of both. Jackie can make announcements and guide your guests through the night in either language, so you don't need a separate MC.
You decide how much Spanish makes sense for your wedding, whether that's a few key moments or the entire night.
Bilingual MC is available as an add-on.

Our DJs come out of the nightclub and festival scene, not the wedding circuit. Jackie, who runs Austin, is also a working event planner, so she reads a timeline the way a coordinator does. And we publish what we charge.
